Aston Villa have announced that Matty Cash has signed a contract extension with the club to keep him here for another five years.
The 24-year-old joined Villa from Nottingham Forest in 2020, and has since gone on to make 60 appearances for the club and establish himself as a key figure in the starting line-up.

An ever-present under former boss Dean Smith and current coach Steven Gerrard, Cash has made the right-back position his own at Villa Park, and he’s been rewarded for that consistent form and improvement that he’s shown over the past year.
As per Villa’s official site, Cash has now signed a contract extension, and while the club didn’t reveal any specific details, the Poland international himself revealed on Twitter that he’s put pen to paper on a five-year deal, as seen in the tweet below.
That’s great news for both parties, as Cash has secured his long-term future and will look to now continue to improve and develop as a player knowing that he has the full backing of the club, while Villa have secured their right-back and dismissed any speculation over his future regarding a potential exit.
Cash has shown real improvement this season both defensively and with his play going forward, as he’s contributed three goals and four assists in 32 appearances across all competitions, after managing no goals and just two assists last year.
In turn, it’s hoped that he continues on this path and is a key piece in Villa’s pursuit of progress and success in the coming years, as Gerrard clearly believes that he’ll be a vital part of his plans moving forward.
