Official: Tim Iroegbunam signs Aston Villa contract until 2027

Aston Villa have confirmed that midfielder Tim Iroegbunam has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2027.

The 18-year-old joined the club from West Brom last summer and made an immediate impression for us at youth level with a string of top performances.

That in turn earned him a place amongst the first-team in training in recent months, and while he made his senior debut coming off the bench against Brighton last month, it appears as though he has continued to impress both Steven Gerrard and the Villa hierarchy.

As per the club’s official site, he has put pen to paper on a new contract that runs until 2027, and the statement also confirms that he will now continue to train with the senior squad permanently.

That is a significant show of faith and a big indication as to how highly Villa, and Gerrard, rate him and believe in his ability, and while he certainly looks like a real talent, we hope to see more of him between now and the end of the season to see if he can deliver at the top level moving forward.

The experience that he’ll gain will no doubt help him improve and develop his game, but time will tell if he’s able to either get more appearances off the bench or perhaps even displace a more senior option towards the end of the Premier League season.
