Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings was in attendance for our 1-0 win over Zrinjski in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night.
The 30-year-old suffered a devastating injury blow in our opening game of the campaign at Newcastle Utd, and is now expected to miss most, if not all, of this season as a result.

While Emiliano Buendia also suffered a damaging setback just days before, the Argentine playmaker has been active on social media and has been keen to share updates on his recovery and rehabilitation process.
Further, he has been a regular at Villa Park since, and his more public approach to keeping fans updated has given us valuable insight into how his recovery is going and an opportunity to continue to offer support.
In contrast, Mings has opted for a more private and silent approach, and that in turn has led to some concern over the influential Villa figure in terms of how he’s recovering and dealing with the situation.
As seen in the image below though, he was in the stands for our win over Zrinjski, with Buendia also at Villa Park again, while Prince William joined them on a highly-anticipated European night at home.
It was the sight of Mings at the stadium though that will grab much of the attention, and although we’re not privy to all his movements since his injury as he may well have been at games previously but gone under the radar, it’s great to see him at the game supporting his teammates and hopefully in good spirits himself.
From all the updates provided by the club, Mings hasn’t been seen in any since his injury though, and so we’ve only gone on Emery’s comments last month where he suggested that the centre-half is a consistent presence at the training ground as he continues his rehab work.
It’s truly hoped we see both Buendia and Mings before the end of the season if they can somehow make a speedy and full recovery from their knee injuries. If not though, they’ll no doubt come back stronger and make a vital impact again next season.
