Ahead of our meeting with Man City on Sunday, Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has sat down for an extended interview with Sky Sports where he spoke about a range of topics.
The Spaniard has overseen an improvement overall since taking charge in October, with Villa in a much stronger position in the Premier League and displaying clear signs of a developing identity and style of play, key aspects that were missing previously.
While there have been setbacks along the way, there is optimism that we’re moving in the right direction under Emery and he’ll undoubtedly hope to continue to significantly mould the current squad into his own in the summer transfer window.

In the more immediate future though, he will be preparing for a difficult assignment at Man City, and speaking ahead of the game, he was asked various questions about his motivations and what he hopes to achieve moving forward, but it was this particular clip that stood out.
While the full interview with Sky Sports can be viewed here, Emery details the key principles he wants to establish at Villa and what his ultimate goals are for the club during his time in charge.
The 51-year-old has done an excellent job of reconnecting with the supporters with his passionate and frank assessments both before and after matches, and there does appear to be a real togetherness about the squad in the way they perform on the pitch.
Emery has been consistently clear that he wants to win trophies while at Villa and the main objective is to get us back into Europe. While it’s hoped that we can achieve that as soon as this year as we sit seven points adrift of sixth place currently, there is no doubt that the Villa boss will continue to make smart decisions that will benefit us in the long run and hopefully lead to success.
