Aston Villa have confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Bayer Leverkusen for Leon Bailey, with a move now subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed.
Bailey, 23, enjoyed an impressive season last year for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring 15 goals and providing 11 assists in 40 appearances.

With speculation ongoing over Jack Grealish’s future at Villa, it remains to be seen whether or not this is a move to replace him or to further strengthen the squad, but as per the club’s official site, an agreement has been reached for the transfer of Bailey to Villa this summer.
It’s added though that a move is still subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed, but it would seem that it is a major hurdle to have overcome on the way to completing a swoop.
Should Bailey arrive as is now expected, he will bring pace, technical quality, creativity and an eye for goal to the Villa XI, while he has predominately been used on the right flank by Leverkusen which allows him to cut inside onto his favoured left foot.
However, he is capable of playing across the line, and so along with Emiliano Buendia, it should lead to plenty of goalscoring opportunities for Ollie Watkins as well as the pair offering a direct threat themselve.s
Time will tell what happens with Grealish, but if Villa can convince him to stay and snub a move to Manchester City, an attacking line-up consisting of Watkins, Grealish, Buendia and Bailey would be something special for us fans to see, and a potential nightmare for opposition defenders.
At this stage though, there is seemingly still a lot to be sorted out and so it remains to be seen if it’s an addition to the team or a move to fill an upcoming void.
