Aston Villa are reportedly considering signing Luis Suarez on a free transfer after his exit from Atletico Madrid.
Villa have been quick to get to work in the summer transfer window, signing Philippe Coutinho on a permanent basis earlier this month before landing Boubacar Kamara on a free transfer last week.

The club announced a deal had been agreed with Sevilla for Diego Carlos this week and so another reinforcement is en route, and it doesn’t appear as though our recruitment drive will be slowing down any time soon.
Villa ‘explore possible Suarez signing’
As per The Telegraph, Villa are said to be exploring the possibility of signing Suarez on a free transfer, with the 35-year-old potentially securing a reunion with his former teammate Steven Gerrard.
Suarez scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 45 appearances across all competitions for Atletico Madrid last season, but he’s set to leave the La Liga giants with his contract set to expire.
While Villa do have Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings at Gerrard’s disposal already, it remains to be seen if his intention is to add more competition and depth with Suarez, or if perhaps his arrival could signal an exit for one of that pair.
With his best years behind him, Suarez could be seen as a risky financial move for Villa, but given his experience, pedigree and quality that has been proven at the highest level, it could be a sensible signing to continue to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.
Tarkowski move unlikely, Mings exit touted
Meanwhile, the Telegraph report above adds that Villa are now unlikely to make a move for James Tarkowski, another free agent next month after his expected exit from Burnley, while Tyrone Mings is one of a number of Villa players who could now face an uncertain future given our push to recruit in that area of the squad.
It’s suggested that Villa are expected to move on at least six players as we try to trim the squad to both cut the numbers and free up finances, and so it promises to be an interesting few weeks to see how Gerrard continues to shape his squad ahead of the new campaign.
While Mings was a key figure in the Villa XI this past season, adding competition for places is not a bad thing, and while Kortney Hause is seemingly set to fall further down the pecking order once Carlos arrives, time will tell if that also forces a decision on Mings if he is expected to have to settle for a more limited role moving forward.
