Aston Villa have announced the club’s pre-season plans for the upcoming summer, with another trip to the USA forming an integral part of our preparations for the new campaign.
Just as we did last year, Villa will play Stateside for three games across three different cities, and while Unai Emery’s focus along with his players will be on the football aspect and being in top condition for the start of the season, it’s also likely to be an important tour from a commercial perspective too.

As per the club’s statement, Villa will face Columbus Crew, RB Leipzig and Club America in Ohio, New Jersey and Chicago respectively, while we’ll also have our traditional opener at Walsall before we depart.
There’s an exciting trip to Borussia Dortmund to look forward to as well on our return, and so it will hopefully prove to be vital preparation for the 2024/25 campaign, particularly if we’re able to qualify for the Champions League.
While we hope to see our senior squad build their fitness and sharpness over the duration of this upcoming pre-season, it will also be an opportunity for Tyrone Mings, Emiliano Buendia and Jacob Ramsey to get back to top form after their extended stints on the sidelines due to injury.
It remains to be seen if it comes too soon for Boubacar Kamara, but the Frenchman perhaps will benefit from being around the squad as he continues his recovery, or Emery and his medical staff will feel it’s best if he stays behind and continues to receive treatment at Bodymoor Heath.
That’s all before we even consider potential new signings too, and so along with the commercial factors as Villa celebrate our 150th anniversary, it will hopefully prove to be a highly productive schedule.
Villa’s statement adds that one more domestic fixture is yet to be announced, while all games will be streamed on VillaTV and further information will be shared on tickets at a later date.
Once again no match at VP, very disappointing tbh.
