Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has become the fastest manager in the club’s history to reach 50 wins, having done so in just 90 games.
It’s already been an incredible journey under the 52-year-old since he was appointed in October 2022, as he has led us on a consistently upward trajectory to help transform the club on and off the pitch.

It has led us to a return to Europe after his first few months at the helm as we competed in the Europa Conference League last season, while that was followed by a fourth-place finish in the Premier League and subsequent qualification for the Champions League.
That in itself is an extraordinary turnaround having taken charge when we were languishing near the bottom of the table under Steven Gerrard, to then take us to fourth spot within a year and a half.
Beyond the results, he has implemented and established an identity, style of play and structure in his team that is both effective and a joy to watch, while the connection between the supporters and the manager and his team has been strengthened after a difficult period prior to his arrival.
Naturally, there are still things that will be worked on for us to improve further, but as shown in the Sky Sports graphic below, Emery has now become the fastest Villa manager to register 50 wins, having done so in just 90 games, as he surpasses the likes of Joe Mercer and John Gregory to put his name at the top of the list.
It’s a remarkable achievement to think of the winning percentage that he has, as he’s ultimately transformed a squad that he inherited, while continuing to gradually strengthen it and mould it into his own in a patient process that has been built around his ability to improve and develop players and instil his principles and utilise his tactical genius.
Having made an excellent start to this season too, it’s hoped that Villa can continue on this run of form and journey for the foreseeable future, and although we will have challenges and setbacks along the way, Emery and his group of players have shown their resiliency and character to bounce back and deal with them on several occasions already.
Nevertheless, this is a landmark achievement more than worthy of celebrating as it’s been a wonderful two years so far, and it’s hoped that it’s part of laying the foundations for the success that is still to come as Emery’s ambitions and objectives certainly don’t end here as he continues to demand and strive for more to make his Villa tenure even more memorable.
