Confirmed Villa XI vs Bournemouth: Emery makes four changes, key boost with strong bench

Aston Villa take on Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday, and Unai Emery has named his starting line-up for the contest.

Villa continued our impressive run of form in midweek with a win over Bologna in the Champions League, but Emery will undoubtedly have moved on from that quickly and focused his players on ensuring we continue to set high standards off the back of another big European night.

We’ve struggled with that aspect of the schedule so far this season, and Bournemouth will certainly be a difficult test as they arrive having been buoyed by a big win over Arsenal, and they have the players to cause us problems if we aren’t at our best.

Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Emery confirmed that everyone was available except for the suspended Jaden Philogene, and so that will be a vital boost going into this encounter as we continue to boast great strength in depth and competition this season.

In turn, the expectation was that we’d name a strong starting line-up once more, and as per the club’s post below, Villa make four changes to the side that won in midweek, with Matty Cash, Lucas Digne, Jacob Ramsey and Ollie Watkins coming in for Diego Carlos, Ian Maatsen, Leon Bailey and Jhon Duran respectively.

Aside from the quality coming back into the starting XI, our bench continues to impress, particularly now that both Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara have returned from injury.

While it’s hoped that we can make a strong start to the game, we have the quality in reserve to change the direction of the clash if needed, and coupled with Emery’s tactical genius and in-game management, we’ll hopefully find the answers to any questions asked of us.
