Morgan Rogers has insisted his focus is on continuing to improve for Aston Villa, and has praised Unai Emery and his staff for their role in his development thus far.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed an excellent start to life at Villa following his move from Middlesbrough in January, and that culminated in making his senior England debut this past week as well as signing a new contract extension.

Beyond the numbers, Rogers has excelled as part of Emery’s side as he has settled into our system and way of playing brilliantly, and his influence on our play has been evident as he wasted no time in becoming an integral piece of the puzzle.
Naturally, given his age and the potential that has yet to be fulfilled, there is hopefully a lot more to come from Rogers in the coming years, and he sounds determined and laser-focused on what he wants to achieve both individually and as a collective moving forward having now signed his new deal and secured his long-term future with us until 2030.
“I’m delighted,” he said, as per VillaTV. “I’m really happy that the club has shown faith and trust in me. I’m so grateful that I can be here for many more years to come and continue with this project. I can’t wait for what’s to come.
“I want to keep improving, keep progressing and try to get better, reaching new heights and new levels.
“It’s been a good start to the season for me personally and as a team, but we’ve got goals and ambitions that we want to achieve. I’ve got goals and ambitions for myself and levels that I want to reach. This is just the start for me and I can’t wait to carry on.”
The England international was also keen to praise Emery and his staff for their impact on his career thus far, as whether that’s through the coaching on the training pitch during the week or in games, or the hierarchy and their influence on how players feel settled and part of the project, there is a tight-knit group at the club.
That clearly has made a big impact on Rogers, who was appreciative of the effort and dedication that the coaching staff show to help him improve and develop on his path to reaching his best level.
As with every other player in the current Villa squad, we’ve seen an improvement in their individual performance over the past two years since Emery took charge, but the challenge now is to keep that consistency and demand more of ourselves to build on what we’ve achieved thus far, and that’s reflected in the comments below from our attacking ace.
“They’ve really taken a shine to wanting to work with me, especially outside on the training pitch and in video sessions,” he added on Emery and his coaching staff. “They’re trying to improve me and help me to understand what the manager wants from me. They’re helping me to use my best attributes within the team and show what I’m about.
“I owe them a lot and I hope I continue to improve because I know I’ve still got a lot of things to develop and get better. It’s a great group of staff to help me do so.
“They really care about wanting to improve players and I’m no different. I want to learn, I want to improve myself and get better.”
