Aston Villa ace Jacob Ramsey has seemingly dropped a hint over an injury recovery timeline for Tyrone Mings.
The Villa centre-half sustained a knee injury during our 1-1 draw with West Ham Utd on Sunday, and that sparked fears of another spell on the sidelines for the England international.

Mings has history with serious knee issues, and although there were positive signs on Sunday as he attempted to play through the pain and continue, his reaction as he left the pitch shortly after raised concern.
Both Unai Emery and Mings himself allayed fears immediately after the game as they didn’t believe it was a serious injury, and that message was reiterated during the pre-Celtic press conference on Tuesday.
While Emery once again noted that it wasn’t a serious injury and that Mings will be monitored with the possibility that he is in contention for our upcoming games, Jacob Ramsey, perhaps unintentionally, dropped a hint over a more realistic recovery timeline.
“When he came off, you could see how devastated he was,” Ramsey told the media in the pre-match press conference. “In the dressing room he’s a big character, a big leader and it’s good news it’s only a couple of weeks, so hopefully he can recover and get back into the team.”
It’s unclear at this stage if the Villa midfielder is actually aware of the situation around Mings and how long he might be sidelined for, but evidently he’s been told something for him to suggest it could be a couple of weeks before he’s back involved.
Particularly with his injury record in mind, perhaps it’s the sensible option to ensure he’s fully recovered from the knock instead of risking him sooner, and so while Mings was absent from training on Tuesday, it doesn’t look as though he’ll feature against Celtic in the Champions League in midweek.
Time will tell if our trip to Wolves this weekend is a more realistic target for him, and although Villa are actively looking to bolster our defensive options this week given we’ve also lost Pau Torres and Diego Carlos to injury and a transfer exit respectively, it’s a concern how light we are in that department.
While it’s a major boost to hear that Mings hasn’t suffered a serious setback, time will tell when he’s judged to be capable of returning to the line-up without the risk of aggravating his knock, and if it is indeed a couple of weeks, Emery must find alternative solutions between now and then.
