Interest builds in Villa ace linked with potential exit this summer

Aston Villa right-back Andres Garcia is reportedly attracting plenty of interest as he could face an uncertain future at the club in the final stages of the transfer window.

The 22-year-old was signed from Levante in January and went on to make 10 appearances last season, serving as competition and primarily depth behind Matty Cash.

With Kosta Nedeljkovic moving out on loan again this season, it was seen as a move to clear the path for Garcia to continue to push Cash for a starting berth, but speculation is now linking him with a potential departure after an injury disrupted his pre-season preparations with the group.

According to Tribuna Deportiva, Valencia have already held talks over a move for Garcia, while Real Betis, Sevilla and other German and Italian clubs are said to be interested in him, but as of yet neither has he decided to leave nor have Villa made a decision on his future.

Nevertheless, the fact that interest has been expressed will perhaps make Villa have to consider their options, as ultimately a sale could allow the club to make a move for another right-back to fill the void who they feel is better placed to give us more quality in that area of the pitch.

Further, talented youngster Triston Rowe featured heavily over pre-season for us and impressed, and so it’s possible that Unai Emery sees him as a viable option to use as cover this season and to serve as Cash’s understudy in the upcoming campaign.

It’s been a problematic position for Villa for some time now, with many supporters questioning whether or not Cash is the best possible option we have could have for the role, and if Garcia was to leave too, that would be another talented prospect not deemed good enough or seen as a profitable piece of business as opposed to being a long-term solution on the pitch.

What is perhaps clearer at this stage, is that Villa must have a transfer target in mind to move for quickly should an exit materialise for the Spaniard in the coming weeks, so as to avoid leaving ourselves short and not having enough depth ahead of another season in which we’ll be looking to compete on multiple fronts.
