Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has confirmed that midfielder Boubacar Kamara will undergo further tests to reveal the extent of the injury he sustained against Tottenham.
The 26-year-old was forced off after just nine minutes in our FA Cup win over Spurs on Saturday evening, as he couldn’t recover from a heavy challenge from Joao Palhinha in the opening minutes of the encounter.
It was encouraging to see him walk down the tunnel unaided, but ultimately Kamara looked in significant discomfort as he tried to play on, and so there is concern that it might be a serious issue.

Unsurprisingly, Emery was asked about the Frenchman in his post-match press conference after our 2-1 win in north London, and he confirmed that Kamara will undergo further tests on Sunday to determine how serious the injury is.
“Tomorrow we will check him. We will know something about his injury,” Emery told reporters.
“Of course, we must be patient until tomorrow. Hopefully it’s not a big injury, and something less than more.”
With Amadou Onana and Ross Barkley already sidelined by injuries of their own, and they aren’t expected back for another two to three weeks, losing Kamara would be a major blow, not only given how influential he is for us, but with the lack of depth we currently have in that department too.
In turn, with a week until we’re next in action against Everton in the Premier League, it’s hoped that it’s only a minor blow that he can potentially recover quickly from, but Emery will no doubt be anxious along with all of us as we await an official update from the club’s medical team.
Kamara has made 26 appearances so far this season across all competitions, contributing one goal and four assists to go with his overall influence in midfield, as he continues to establish himself as one of the most important players in Emery’s preferred starting line-up.

Let’s hope it’s not to serious he’s a brilliant player and will be needed
