Villa dealt major injury blow as update on influential ace emerges

Aston Villa have reportedly been dealt a major injury blow as Boubacar Kamara is expected to miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury.

The 26-year-old suffered the setback during our win over Tottenham in the FA Cup earlier this month, and it appeared to be a serious concern immediately despite the fact that the Frenchman was able to walk off the pitch.

He was clearly in significant discomfort, and after an extended wait to undergo further scans to reveal the full severity of the issue, Villa have been handed a massive blow.

According to The Athletic, Kamara will miss the rest of the season with his knee injury, and although specific details aren’t given, it’s noted that he faces a lengthy spell out as he recovers and goes through his rehabilitation.

For him personally, it’s a bitterly disappointing setback for his own development and achieving his targets, both with club and country.

For Villa, it’s a huge setback given just how influential he is for us in both phases in midfield, and with Amadou Onana, Ross Barkley and now John McGinn all currently recovering from injuries of their own, it leaves us worryingly light in midfield.

It’s hoped that Kamara has a full and speedy recovery that allows him to get back for pre-season training in the summer to prepare as best as possible for next season, but the expectation now is that Villa will delve into the transfer market to ensure that we have enough quality and depth in the side to cope without him.

Onana could potentially return to training this week while Barkley is also pushing for a return after a long time out himself, and so in the more immediate future, it’s hoped that we’re able to get enough senior players back to cover this loss, with youngsters Lamare Bogarde and George Hemmings likely to step up too.
