Advanced talks touted as Villa close in on bolstering attack

Aston Villa are reportedly in advanced talks with Besiktas over the transfer of striker Tammy Abraham in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old joined the Turkish outfit last summer, and he has since gone on to score 13 goals and provide three assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.

However, his time with them could be coming to an early end, as according to Fabrizio Romano, Villa are now in advanced talks to sign our former loanee, and although an agreement hasn’t yet been reached between the two clubs, we have reached a deal with Abraham on personal terms already.

After spells at Chelsea, Roma and AC Milan prior to his move to Turkiye, coupled with the connection he already has with Villa given his successful loan spell with us in the 2018/19 campaign, Abraham has plenty of experience at the top level and has shown his quality with each of those clubs.

While he may not be the most extravagant signing we could have made this month, if Unai Emery feels as though he is a good fit for us and can be productive in his preferred style of play and system, then there is little doubt that Abraham will go on to make an important impact for us moving forward and develop his own game further as part of the collective.

Importantly, he would add a different attacking dynamic to the squad with his attributes, and that is essential for Villa, as we look to compete across multiple fronts and need different ways to break opponents down to have a Plan B when necessary.

With a lack of current options behind Ollie Watkins to lead the line, who himself has managed just seven goals and one assist in 30 appearances so far this season, we needed to add something to the group, and hopefully if Abraham does arrive as now expected, he’ll prove to be the ideal solution.
