Emiliano Buendia has revealed that he has started his recovery after the Aston Villa playmaker suffered a significant knee injury earlier this month.
The 26-year-old sustained the setback in training on the eve of the new Premier League season, and it’s undoubtedly a huge blow for Unai Emery and the players to now be without him for most, if not all, of this campaign.

While it’s hoped that the Argentine ace can make a full and speedy recovery to play a part in the latter stages of the year, he has taken to social media to reveal that he has completed his first day of rehabilitation work on his long road to recovery.
It’s great to see the Villa man in good spirits as this will undoubtedly be a difficult process for him to not only go through a gruelling few months of recovery, but also being denied the opportunity to play football and to be a key part of our pursuit of success this season.
Naturally, it’s only a baby step at this point that he has logged his first day of work post-surgery, but he’ll no doubt keep track of these mini wins in the coming weeks and months to keep his morale up.
Villa will certainly miss his presence in the side given what he brings on the pitch, but it’s hoped that with the arrival of Nicolo Zaniolo last week and with the potential for more signings before the transfer deadline, that we’ll have enough to be as effective in the final third moving forward.
There’s no denying that it has been a horrible start to the season in terms of injuries for us though, with Tyrone Mings also going down with a significant knee injury in our defeat to Newcastle Utd on the opening weekend, while both Leon Bailey and Philippe Coutinho picked up knocks in our win over Everton on Sunday.
With the likes of Jacob Ramsey, Alex Moreno and Leander Dendoncker still making their own way back from respective injury blows, it’s hoped that the treatment room gradually becomes less crowded in the coming weeks and we start welcoming key individuals back to the fold.
