Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara has provided a positive update on his injury recovery as he’s continuing his work ahead of pre-season.
The 26-year-old has been sidelined by a knee injury since January, as he subsequently missed the second half of the campaign as he underwent his recovery and rehabilitation.
Although Villa were able to go on and enjoy success without him, there’s no doubt that we missed his presence and influence in the middle of the pitch, and so getting him back healthy and in peak condition for the start of the new campaign will be crucial.

It was reported earlier this summer that the Frenchman was targeting a return to full fitness in time for the start of our pre-season schedule, which begins at Walsall on July 21.
With that in mind, there was a positive update from Kamara on his Instagram account, as seen below, as he posted an image of himself at Bodymoor Heath continuing his work on the grass, with an egg timer emoji suggesting that he’s closing in on being fully recovered from his injury setback.
Kamara has struggled with injuries throughout his time at Villa, albeit many of them have been unfortunate knocks that have resulted in lengthy spells on the sidelines, and last season was no different as he was limited to 26 appearances across all competitions.
In turn, it’s hoped that once he is fully healed from his latest blow, he is able to provide us with a consistent and reliable presence in the Villa starting line-up throughout the season, as it will undoubtedly help us compete at the top level and build on the success of last year.
It was no coincidence that our dip in form after the turn of the year came when Kamara, Youri Tielemans and John McGinn all suffered injury issues, and so if we can keep our key individuals fit while continuing to build around them and create a deeper squad, we’ll hopefully be able to keep progressing under Unai Emery and enjoy further success in the upcoming campaign.
For Kamara though, it’s just about being ready for pre-season at this stage, getting games under his belt over the course of the summer to recover his match fitness and sharpness, and hopefully he’ll be a pillar in the side again next season.
