Aston Villa have provided the latest injury and team news ahead of our clash with Arsenal on Saturday, with updates on Tyrone Mings, Bertrand Traoré and Diego Carlos.
Villa will look to get back to winning ways this weekend after consecutive defeats in the Premier League, and it promises to be another difficult assignment against Mikel Arteta’s side.

In order to have the best possible chance of getting a positive result, Villa boss Unai Emery will have been hoping for good news on the injury front, and it appears as though he has received exactly that.
As per the club’s tweet below, Mings is in line to return after missing the defeat to Man City last time out due to injury, but there is seemingly an element of caution with him as it’s suggested that he will face a late assessment on Saturday despite training the last two days.
Meanwhile, Traoré will return to the matchday squad after overcoming his own injury setback, and he will no doubt be an important option off the bench to add a new dynamic to our attack if needed.
With Villa lacking options in terms of wingers on the right side, Traore could emerge as a key solution in the coming months, and so it remains to be seen if he’s able to get some important minutes this weekend.
Elsewhere, there was a huge boost on Carlos, as Villa have now confirmed that the Brazilian defender has returned to group training in a major step forward after he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon last August, but naturally, he will now continue to work on his fitness ahead of a return to the pitch.
Both short-term and long-term, this is a really positive round-up on injuries in the squad, and it’s hoped that Mings joins Traore in the squad this weekend while Carlos is able to resume action in the coming weeks.
Emery will no doubt be delighted with the latest developments as it gives him options and depth, and so we’ll hopefully begin another positive run of form this weekend against his former club with no late setbacks suffered by others.
Emery updates on Villa injuries
“He (Tyrone) is in the squad,” he told the media, as per Villa TV. “He trained today and yesterday but we are going to decide tomorrow morning before the match. The last moments are going to be very important about the decision if he can start or not.
“Diego Carlos, we are so happy, because he has started training with us, yesterday and today. But, of course, he will need time to be fit and to be confident to play.
“Bertrand Traoré is getting better, he trained last week, this week as well, and he is in the squad.
“Olsen has a small problem but he is going to be in the squad as well.”
