Aston Villa have added two more pre-season friendlies to the schedule this summer as we’ll face Walsall and Stade Rennais in July.
A disappointing Premier League campaign came to an end on Sunday, with Villa finishing 14th in the standings after a difficult year in which there was a managerial change as well as struggles for some of our new signings to settle.

However, with Steven Gerrard continuing to strengthen his squad following the signings of Philippe Coutinho and Boubacar Kamara this month, as well as now planning ahead for his first pre-season in charge, there is real excitement and optimism about what we could potentially achieve next season.
Our build-up and preparation will be key as the Villa boss looks to really get his ideas and strategies across to his players, and so it’s imperative that we pick competitive opposition who will test us.
As we continue to add fixtures to our pre-season schedule following on from the confirmation of our trip to Australia in July, there are now five games confirmed thus far, with the club announcing that those not being played in Australia will be streamed live on VillaTV+, while streaming details for the other games will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
As things stand, this is how our pre-season looks so far:
Saturday July 9: vs Walsall (A), 1pm KO
Sunday July 17, vs Leeds United (Australia)
Wednesday July 20, vs Brisbane Roar (Australia)
Saturday July 23, vs Manchester United (Australia)
Saturday July 30, vs Stade Rennais (A), 6pm KO local time
