Aston Villa’s latest signing Boubacar Kamara has revealed his delight over his move and spoke of the important role Steven Gerrard played in his decision.
The 22-year-old joins us as his contract with Marseille is set to expire next month, having made 170 appearances for the club with whom he came through the youth ranks and impressed.
After making a positive impact during his time in Ligue 1 and in Europe with the French giants, Kamara was also called up to the national team for their upcoming Nations League games.

In turn, with the quality he has shown thus far coupled with the potential he has to improve his game, it’s a top signing for Villa and one that Gerrard was evidently keen to get over the line as soon as possible.
Combined with the glaring issue we have in our midfield in the defensive role, it was an area that needed to be addressed this summer and Gerrard will no doubt be delighted we’ve moved swiftly to get this important piece of business done.
Speaking to Villa TV on his move, Kamara revealed how important his new boss was in convincing him about a move, while he also detailed what Villa fans can expect from him next season.

“I am very pleased to be an Aston Villa player,” he said, as per the club’s official site. “I thought a lot about it, and I think this is the correct decision for my career. I am excited to begin.”
“The coach was very important to me. He came to see me in Marseille in my home and we discussed a lot of things and spoke about the move. There was a really great feeling. He played a huge part in my decision to sign here.
“I hope I can return all the confidence he put in me.”

“I communicated with Morgan and Lucas (Digne) and I asked about how things are here, how is the city, the training, the coach.
“They said the same things that it is great, so that also helped in my decision.”
“I think that the Premier League is the best league in the world, I look forward to experiencing this league.”
Kamara on what he brings to the Villa XI
“I hope we will have a season full of passion. There is really a great project taking shape here and I am very glad to be part of it.
“My style, I would say that I am the soldier. This means that no matter how the coach wants to use me, in the middle or in the defence, I give one hundred per cent and do everything for the team.”
