Galatasaray set to make offer for Aston Villa midfielder

Galatasaray are reportedly set to launch a transfer bid for Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson this week.

Sanson, 27, has seen his spell at Villa disrupted by injury since arriving in January 2021, and that continued last season as he was limited to just 12 appearances across all competitions.

When involved, the Frenchman has often impressed, and if he could get a run of games in the side under his belt, it could give him the confidence and belief that he can be a pivotal figure in the Villa XI moving forward.

Unfortunately though, we’ve yet to see that materialise, and as reported by TRT Spor, Galatasaray are being linked with a move for Sanson this summer as they eye midfield reinforcements, and it’s suggested that an offer could be made in the coming days to try and prise him away from Villa.

Time will tell if that offer officially arrives and whether it’s one that forces Villa to consider their options, but this is a crucial period now for Sanson in terms of whether or not he is given a chance to play a role under Steven Gerrard, or conversely moves on and tries a new experience and challenge elsewhere.

Talk Villa view: Villa should stick with Sanson if…

Given the quality that he possesses and the important role that he could potentially play for us moving forward as we try to compete on multiple fronts and assemble a squad capable of doing that, it’s hoped that Sanson is given another year to prove his worth at Villa.

It remains to be seen if there are exits elsewhere in midfield which could open up opportunities for him to feature more heavily next season if he can stay fit, and so there is certainly enough there to support an argument in favour of keeping him and opting against moving him on this summer.

That said, a lot will surely depend on Sanson himself and what he wants to do at an important time in his career. Should an opportunity present itself where he would have a better chance of a more prominent role next season, it could be one that he’s tempted to accept.

The hope though is that he still wants to prove himself at Villa and showcase his true talent on a consistent basis.
