Confirmed Villa XI vs Tottenham: Three key changes for crunch clash

Aston Villa host Tottenham in the Premier League on Friday night, and Unai Emery has named his starting line-up for the crunch clash.

It’s a simple equation from a Villa perspective, as we know we must win our final two league games of the campaign and hope that results elsewhere go in our favour if we are to qualify for the Champions League again.

Emery and the players will undoubtedly be fully focused on our job, and it’s hoped that we can secure the desired outcome against a Tottenham side perhaps with one eye on the Europa League final next week.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Emery confirmed that Youri Tielemans and Marcus Rashford were ruled out due to injury, while Jacob Ramsey will play no part either as he’s suspended.

That trio aside though, the rest of the Villa squad is available for selection, and as per the club’s post below, we’ve made three changes for the encounter with Pau Torres, Ian Maatsen and John McGinn coming in to replace Tyrone Mings, Lucas Digne and Ramsey.

It’s a strong Villa line-up that will hopefully give us control in the game and get us on the front-foot, as we’ll need to play with positive intent and take the game to Spurs in order to secure three invaluable points.

Emiliano Martinez continues between the posts, while Ezri Konsa and Matty Cash complete our backline with Amadou Onana and Boubacar Kamara continuing in the midfield pivot.

Our attacking trident behind Ollie Watkins sees Morgan Rogers and Marco Asensio get the nod alongside McGinn, and so there is plenty of quality and a balance to the Villa side that will hopefully get us over the line.
