Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa is reportedly in line to be offered a new contract as he continues to impress as a fundamental figure in the side.
Since joining the club from Brentford in July 2019, the 25-year-old has gone on to make 145 appearances in a Villa shirt, and he has undoubtedly become a crucial part of the backline.

Having continued to impress during the adaptation period under Unai Emery, The Daily Mail’s Tom Collomosse has now reported that the Villa centre-half is in line for a new contract, and should one materialise, it would certainly be well deserved given his consistent top form over recent seasons.
Konsa’s current contract runs until June 2026 with a club option to extend for a year, and so it remains to be seen if that option will simply be triggered, or if Villa intend on securing his future for longer.
What is clear for now is that the Villa defender is continuing to impress at the back, and he certainly looks capable of being a pivotal part of Emery’s plans moving forward given his defensive qualities and technical ability in possession to be a perfect fit for his style of play.
Further, Konsa’s versatility to play at right-back is also an important strength with the Villa boss preferring to play with three centre-halves at times, and so there are few other players who are as important for us this season.
While there have been changes and tweaks around him, Konsa has been a constant for Villa through the tenures of a number of managers now too, and it’s hoped that the best is yet to come under Emery given how well he’s played since the Spanish tactician arrived a year ago.
With Pau Torres now alongside him and with Diego Carlos also forming part of that backline, Villa have quality options in that department even with Tyrone Mings out injured, but securing Konsa’s longer-term future will be a major boost for all concerned as he’ll hopefully be a pillar of the Villa XI for many more years.
