Aston Villa have announced additional details with regards to the club’s plans to develop and expand Villa Park.
Villa have communicated their desire to increase the capacity at Villa Park previously, as well as modernising the stadium across the board in terms of fan experience and hospitality to improve the overall look and feel of the club’s home.

Christian Purslow, Villa CEO, has now revealed further details regarding those plans as per the club’s official site, which include a complete rebuild of the North Stand and upgrades to the Trinity Road Stand which in turn will increase the capacity to over 50,000.
Further, plans have been unveiled for a multi-use building in the current North Park Stand car park, ‘Villa Live’, while improvements are expected to be made to the transport infrastructure around the stadium amid ongoing criticism of the current situation.
It’s expected that these plans will enter the first phase of implementation from 2023 through to 2025, and it’s not only hoped that there is a smooth transition to introduce these improvements to the club’s facilities, but that they ultimately have the desired effect of improving the matchday experience, make the most of the opportunities around games and increase revenue which in turn is invested back into the club.
Villa Park is undoubtedly one of the more historic grounds in England, but it’s important for the club to redevelop and expand moving forward in order to grow off the pitch in a business sense, and that will hopefully help us become increasingly competitive on the pitch too.
What Purslow said on Villa Park expansion plans
“We’ve made great strides on designs for the redevelopment of Villa Park,” Purslow said, as per the club’s website. “As I explained in my last interview, the redevelopment of the stadium itself falls into three parts.
“An entirely new North Stand replacing the current one, which dates from the 1970s, some significant upgrades to the Trinity Road Stand, particularly in hospitality, and then a new multi-use building in the current North Stand car park.
“This will enable us to offer much enhancement to a range of our current offerings, whether that’s retail or café, bar and restaurant but, most importantly, a destination for our fans, not just on matchday.”
