Aston Villa 2022/23 Premier League fixtures: Bournemouth opener on August 6

Aston Villa’s Premier League fixtures for the 2022/23 season have been confirmed as we face Bournemouth in our opener on August 6.

With the World Cup in Qatar this year, the schedule has been shifted around and so there is a less hectic December for clubs this season, but ultimately that results in a busier period before and after instead.

As seen in the graphic below, Villa begin away at Bournemouth on August 6, with Everton, Crystal Palace, West Ham Utd and Arsenal rounding off the month.

It’s a difficult start on paper as Steven Gerrard will hope to get some positive results under our belts early on to build confidence and belief, but ultimately we have to play these sides twice and it could be argued it really doesn’t matter when that happens.

As the season goes on there will be ups and downs in form and other circumstances, and it’s hoped that Villa have started to build a squad under Gerrard that is capable of competing at a high level across multiple competitions and is able to show a level of consistency that we struggled with last year.

If we can do that, then we’ll move in the right direction next season, and with the early signings of Philippe Coutinho, Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos, we’ve done excellent business so far this summer and it’s expected that there is still a lot more to come.

For now though, Villa fans can look forward to the start of August as we hope to enjoy a positive and successful first full season under Gerrard’s stewardship.
