Villa ace working hard on recovery from injury as he posts update

Aston Villa defender Alex Moreno has posted an update on his recovery, as he is already hard at work and keeping himself fit after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury last month.

The 29-year-old suffered the injury setback in our draw at Liverpool on May 20, and he was subsequently seen wearing a leg brace during the on-pitch celebrations after our win over Brighton last weekend secured a Europa Conference League spot.

Villa boss Unai Emery confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Moreno had undergone surgery and would be sidelined for two to three months, with a return touted for the early part of August.

Ideally, the Spaniard will be able to return ahead of schedule and get some valuable work in pre-season to get himself fully fit, but given the nature of the injury, the Villa medical staff certainly won’t be rushing him back.

While the rest of his teammates are either now on holiday or preparing for international duty, Moreno has posted an update from Bodymoor Heath where he is already getting to work on his recovery, but also keeping himself in good shape to ensure the process remains as smooth as possible.

As seen in his video below, he is still wearing the brace to protect that hamstring as the last thing he wants to do now is aggravate it, and so hopefully he’ll continue on his recovery timeline without any setbacks.

The Spaniard emerged as a real positive of our campaign after his arrival in January, as he made 19 Premier League appearances and became a fundamental piece not only in our impressive run of results but also in terms of adapting to Emery’s demands and style of play.

In turn, he will be crucial to our success moving forward, and it’s hoped that he’s able to return if not for the start of next season, then at least in the early part as we look to compete on multiple fronts and make a strong start to Emery’s first full campaign in charge.
