Villa ace continuing rehab work after injury setback as progress made

Aston Villa playmaker Emiliano Buendia is continuing to make progress in his rehabilitation work after the knee injury he sustained last month, with Alex Moreno providing support for his teammate.

The 26-year-old suffered the setback on the eve of the Premier League season in one of our last training sessions before the opening weekend, and he’s now expected to miss most, if not all, of the campaign as a result.

While he continues on his long road to recovery, he’s consistently putting in the hard work having provided various updates already over the past month, with Moreno on hand to encourage him as he makes progress too.

As seen in the image below, the Spaniard was backing his teammate as he went through an exercise session in the pool on Friday, and he captioned his Instagram story with: “How this guy works”.

It’s great to see Buendia making progress, as it’s an important step forward going through a session in the pool. Although there is of course a long way to go still as he’s expected to spend many more months working on his recovery, it’s vital that he continues to move in the right direction and keeps his spirits high.

The support of his teammates will be key during this process too, and so it says a lot about Moreno as a character that he’s encouraging him while at the training ground working on his own comeback and pushing to get back into the Villa XI this weekend.

It was a bitter blow losing Buendia to such a serious injury, as the Argentine ace was set to play a fundamental role for Unai Emery this season as we look to compete on multiple fronts.

With Tyrone Mings suffering a significant knee injury of his own just days later, it must have been a difficult period for the squad, and while it’s hoped that the Villa centre-half is making similar progress but seemingly away from social media, perhaps we’ll see them close in on a comeback towards the latter part of the season.
