Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has confirmed that Jacob Ramsey will undergo further tests on Sunday after picking up an injury in our win over Luton.
The 22-year-old has had a difficult season already due to injuries, having missed 11 Premier League games to date, which in turn has had a knock-on effect on his form.

Having been limited to 21 appearances across all competitions, Ramsey has contributed just one goal and two assists thus far, but just as he was finally starting to feature regularly again and hopefully rediscover his best form, he could potentially face another spell on the sidelines.
After initially going down and requiring treatment, the Villa ace continued for a short period before being replaced by Morgan Rogers in the 29th minute in our 3-2 win at Kenilworth Road on Saturday, and he appeared to be indicating it was a knock on his foot.
Given that was the issue previously this season when he was twice sidelined for an extended period, there was obvious concern about the latest setback, but Emery remained calm in his post-match interview and revealed that further tests would be needed to determine the extent of the problem.
“We are going to check him,” BirminghamLive’s John Townley quotes Emery as saying. “It was strange because he was feeling something before he had the injury in his foot. Until tomorrow it is difficult to know if it is relevant or not.”
Meanwhile, The Express and Star’s Matt Maher also confirmed that Ramsey will be assessed on Sunday after picking up a foot injury, and so time will tell whether or not it’s a serious setback.
Villa have shown already this year that we have strength in depth, as we’ve managed to deal with the long-term absences of the likes of Tyrone Mings and Emiliano Buendia, and more recently Boubacar Kamara.
With others in and out of the side too, it hasn’t been easy for Emery, but both he and his players have found a way. That said, the last thing we need is for Ramsey to join the list of absentees next week.
It’s hoped that any further tests or scans show no damage and that he’ll be ok to feature against Ajax and Tottenham in the next seven days, but ultimately we’ll have to wait for further updates from Emery later in the week.
