Aston Villa midfielder Johan Manzambi has provided an update on his injury recovery in an important boost for Unai Emery.
Villa completed the signing of the 20-year-old earlier this summer from Freiburg, but after picking up an injury at the World Cup whilst representing Switzerland, the talented youngster has been sidelined since.
While it was reported that he was back training on the grass last week, Manzambi has posted an update of his own on social media to confirm that he is now moving closer towards a return to action.

As per his Instagram posts, Villa’s marquee summer signing confirmed that he is indeed now working outside again as well as doing gym work at Bodymoor Heath, and so that will come as a huge boost for Emery as he hopes to get his entire squad available at his disposal sooner rather than later.
It’s likely that the Arsenal game will come too soon for the Swiss ace though as it’s unclear at this stage if he has participated in group training yet with the rest of the squad, and so the same could be said for our trip to Hull City on September 5.
In turn, it’s hoped that he can feature prior to the first international break as he’ll undoubtedly benefit from getting minutes sooner rather than later both in terms of getting match fit and sharp as well as building chemistry with his new teammates, but Villa will of course be cautious to avoid re-aggravating the injury issue.
For now though, it’s a positive update, and with real excitement around Manzambi’s potential impact and influence in this new-look Villa side, he’ll no doubt be itching to show what he can offer having impressed during his time at Freiburg with nine goals and 11 assists in 58 appearances, as well as scoring six goals in 16 caps for Switzerland.
