Aston Villa are reportedly eyeing a £7m move for Celtic’s David Turnbull this summer, having watched him on several occasions this season.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a productive season this year, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists in 39 appearances for the Scottish giants.
With Villa looking for more goals and creativity from midfield to ease the burden that is currently on Jack Grealish’s shoulders, a player like Turnbull could certainly address that issue in the squad.
As per The Scottish Sun, it’s reported that we are eyeing a move for the Scotland U21 international, and that a £7m swoop this summer could be on the cards.
It’s added that we’ve had a closer look at him on a number of occasions this season, a campaign in which he earned the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award with his impressive displays.
Time will tell if Turnbull emerges as a priority target in that department this summer though, as it’s a key area that needs to be improved ahead of next season and so Villa must bring in the right player to offer us consistent quality in the final third.
Turnbull would arguably tick a number of the right boxes in terms of age, talent, rise in value and having had that experience in Scotland of being involved in big games, and the report above would suggest that he is certainly on Villa’s radar heading into the summer transfer window.
