Aston Villa and ownership group V Sports have confirmed a new partnership with Spanish club Real Union, who join their growing portfolio of football clubs.
Since acquiring Villa, V Sports has added ZED FC in Egypt, Vitoria Sport Clube in Portugal, and Vissel Kobe in Japan to its global network.

As part of that ongoing vision to expand their network in a multi-club model that is being increasingly adopted by other groups too, the club have now officially confirmed that a new partnership has been agreed with Real Union.
Currently plying their trade in the third tier of Spanish football, the Basque club has strong links with our current boss Unai Emery, given he and his brother, Igor, acquired a controlling stake in the club in June.
Further, the family ties run deeper with Emery’s father and grandfather having played for them, and so beyond the footballing benefits of such an agreement, it will no doubt mean a lot to the Villa boss and his family moving forward too.
Similarly to how they’ve explained the previous partnerships will benefit us, Villa note in their statement that the deal will promote the opportunity to develop technical, data and coaching methods, while it remains to be seen if it also opens up a pathway for players to move within the network to benefit their respective development.
It’s a fascinating strategy that will hopefully have obvious benefits for Villa from our perspective, but it’s also important that the ownership continue to be mindful of UEFA rules and regulations moving forward, to avoid falling foul of anything.
Given Real Union’s current standing, that doesn’t appear to be an immediate concern, and so we hope that the partnership delivers tangible success for all concerned in the coming months and years.
