Confirmed Villa XI vs Luton: Key quartet come back in, bench absence

Aston Villa face Luton Town in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, and here’s Unai Emery’s starting line-up for the encounter.

The Villa boss opted to rotate and make changes in midweek for our Europa Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar, and having also been able to rest key players by taking them off in the latter stages of our 4-1 win, it’s hoped that we’ve managed to keep everyone relatively fresh.

Although he did confirm that both Alex Moreno and Jacob Ramsey remain sidelined due to injury and won’t return until after the upcoming international break, there was good news as he suggested that there were no new knocks suffered ahead of our meeting with Luton.

That said, changes were still expected with a number of regular starters dropping to the bench on Thursday night, and as seen in the club’s tweet below, we have indeed brought back in a number of familiar faces.

Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres, Nicolò Zaniolo and Moussa Diaby come back into the side after being rested in midweek, although there’s no Jhon Duran on the bench again despite featuring in Alkmaar.

It’s unclear at this stage whether it’s another injury-related decision or not, but there is better news with talented midfield youngster Tim Iroegbunam back on the bench and pushing to be involved again.

Villa have enjoyed a productive week with wins over West Ham Utd and AZ Alkmaar, and so it’s hoped that we can continue that fine form with another strong performance against a Luton side that will undoubtedly make it difficult for us to break them down and try to take advantage on the counter.
