Confirmed Villa XI vs Wolves: Emery makes one change, key boosts

Aston Villa take on Wolves on Saturday as Unai Emery looks for a positive response from his side and a return to winning ways.

Defeat at Man Utd last weekend was a blow to our European hopes, but with four games still remaining, there is plenty left to play for as we look to focus on ourselves and get three points this weekend.

It won’t be easy against Wolves on the road, but Emery will undoubtedly have faith in his side’s ability to rediscover our form and return to our best level of performance at Molineux.

The Villa boss makes one change to his starting line-up, with Bertrand Traoré replacing Leander Dendoncker in an attacking move, which will hopefully give us more creativity and threat in the final third.

That in turn means John McGinn shifts inside to partner Douglas Luiz, and that midfield pair will play a pivotal role in helping us control the tempo and dominate possession.

Further, there is good news on the bench as Boubacar Kamara, Philippe Coutinho and Leon Bailey all return from injury, but this encounter has evidently come too soon for Matty Cash.

Nevertheless, our options on the sidelines look a lot stronger with plenty of experience, and although they will be lacking match fitness, it’s hoped that Emery can call upon them if needed in the latter stages to help us get a positive result.

It’s a big afternoon for Villa as we face a difficult test in a game that ultimately we must win to stay in contention for Europe, and so it will be fascinating to see how the players deal with that pressure in a derby game and how they bounce back from disappointment last time out.
