Grealish posts farewell message to Villa fans as he completes Man City move

Jack Grealish has posted a farewell message to Aston Villa fans after completing his £100m move to Manchester City.

Both clubs and the 25-year-old have remained silent over the past week amid ongoing speculation over his future, with City lodging a £100m bid last week to trigger the release clause in his contract.

Ultimately, he has opted to make the move to the Etihad to join the reigning Premier League champions, as reported by BBC Sport with the £100m fee confirmed, ending a 19-year spell with Villa having established himself as a talismanic playmaker and captain of the side in recent times.

Naturally, his departure will hurt many fans and it will be a huge blow for Dean Smith and the rest of the club given the quality that he possesses, but Villa will be confident in the players that have arrived to help us move forward and be increasingly competitive in the years to come.

As seen below, Grealish posted a message to the Villa fans after the deal was confirmed, while he also shared a montage of his finest moments as a Villa player as he will no doubt cherish the memories he created with his boyhood club.

Having left the door open to a return in the future, it remains to be seen if Grealish ever does put on the Villa shirt again, but as his focus now switches to bringing success to Man City, ours is on the players who have arrived this summer, the current stars in the squad and the youngsters coming through to ensure we kick on from where he leaves us.
