Zaniolo has made four appearances for Villa thus far, and although we’re awaiting his first goal contribution, there have been positive signs in his displays as he has made a good early impression with his impact in the final third.

While he continues to stake his claim for a more prominent role under Emery, the Italian international has been discussing his impact thus far, and it’s the perfect attitude that all concerned want to hear from him, as he insisted he’s focused on helping the team and doing what’s best for Villa over his own personal positional preference.

“I’m a versatile player,” he told VillaTV. “I can play on the right, I can play on the left, I can play in the middle. But, for me, the most important is not my position, it is the team. The focus is the team and the targets of the team.

“For me, if the mister tells me ‘today, you play right’, okay, ‘today, you play left’, no problem.

“I’m here to help the team and I give all my best for this.”

Meanwhile, Zaniolo also opened up on how he’s settled at the club since arriving last month, and it sounds as though it’s been a smooth transition for him off the pitch too.

Based on what we’ve heard from various players that have joined the club in recent times, the staff available to help them to acclimatise and adapt to their new environment is top level, and it sounds as though Zaniolo has also benefited from that.

Time will tell if he has played his way into a bigger role for Villa in the coming weeks, but as he continues to integrate himself into life at the club on and off the pitch, he’ll undoubtedly have an important part to play in our season as a whole, and the Villa fans have certainly taken to him quickly too.

“My team-mates, the staff, the club are very good, very friendly,” he added. “Since the first day I came here, everyone has been like a family.

“I’m very happy to be here and show my ability on the pitch. I hope I can do that.”
