Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has reportedly extended his contract at the club until 2027, while the owners are set to hold talks in the summer to prolong his stay even further.
The 52-year-old was appointed in October 2022, and has since taken Villa from facing the threat of relegation to qualifying for the Europa Conference League and now challenging for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

It’s clear that the Spanish tactician is building something special at the club as he assembles his squad and has the structure and personnel around him to offer support in implementing his vision, and the hope had been that he would extend his stay for the foreseeable future to build a lasting legacy at Villa.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Emery has agreed to extend his contract until 2027, and the club intend to hold additional talks at the end of the season to prolong his deal even further.
It’s noted that speculation has linked Emery with other jobs both in England and in Europe in recent weeks, and so this is a timely boost too in that it will hopefully dismiss that distraction and allow the Villa boss and his players to stay focused on finishing this season as best as possible.
Given the transformation that he has inspired and influenced since he was appointed, it’s such a significant boost to hear that he has committed his long-term future to us, and hopefully an official announcement from the club isn’t too far off.
That said, Emery will not allow that to distract him or the squad from the objectives that we’re still chasing this season, and so it’s hoped that we can complete what has been a memorable campaign with the perfect finish.
Regardless of that though, it’s been a wonderful match thus far between Emery and Villa, as he’s improved key individuals across the squad to raise the level and instil a winning mentality, he’s added quality through his signings and built a strong connection with the supporters. It’s hoped that we see that continue to blossom until 2027 and beyond.
