Given how much improvement and development we’ve shown under Unai Emery, both on a collective and individual level, there were likely some difficult choices for most, but it’s hard to disagree with the outcome and the winners on the night.

As confirmed by Villa, Luiz picked up a double having been named the Player of the Season by both the supporters and his teammates, with the 25-year-old Brazilian ace contributing six goals and six assists apiece in 39 appearances, both career-highs.

His influence has undoubtedly grown under Emery, as he has thrived in his current position and role in the side to provide control, composure and technical quality in our midfield to dictate the tempo and possession in games on a consistent basis, while also being more decisive in the final third.

In turn, it was a deserved double scoop for him, while Jacob Ramsey was named Young Player of the Season, with the 21-year-old similarly enjoying his football more so under Emery as he’s also bagged six goals and six assists in 37 outings.

Ramsey has a big future ahead of him and it’s been important to see him establish himself in Emery’s line-up this season to ensure he’s a pillar of the Villa XI moving forward with reinforcements expected to arrive in the summer.

Having made his 100th appearance for the club this past weekend, it’s hoped that there are many, many more landmarks and achievements to come.

Meanwhile, Bertrand Traore’s strike against Leicester City was named our Goal of the Season, and it was certainly a worthy winner, not only given the quality involved in the finish but also the importance of sealing all three points on the night as we head into the final game of the Premier League season hoping to secure European football.

Further, Jed Steer was also handed an award as recognition of his 10 years at the club, and the role he played in helping us get back into the Premier League was huge, so it was a nice touch to see him enjoy that moment on awards night.
