Villa ace provides insight on injury recovery as hard work continues

Aston Villa playmaker Emiliano Buendia has provided some insight into his recovery from the knee injury that he suffered on the eve of the season.

The 26-year-old was a key figure under Unai Emery following his appointment last year, and he had been expected to continue to be crucial this season in our bid to compete on multiple fronts for silverware.

In a bitterly disappointing and sad blow though, the Argentine midfielder sustained a serious knee injury in training just before our first game of the campaign, and he is now expected to miss most, if not all, of this season.

Naturally, the hope is that he can recover and return in the latter stages to play some part, but it has already been, and is likely to continue to be, a long road back for him in his rehabilitation.

With that in mind, it’s important that he continues to receive plenty of support, and it’s great to see him provide an update on social media, as seen in the tweet below from his Instagram story, so that us supporters can back him and gain insight into where he’s at.

Buendia captioned a video of him going through some drills at Bodymoor Heath with: “Seguimos”, which translates to ‘we continue’, and it’s been clear since he suffered the injury that he has been working hard to recover and continue to make progress.

Emery has found alternative solutions so far this season, even with Jacob Ramsey absent for much of it too, but there is no doubt that we’ll benefit hugely when he returns, and it will be some moment when Buendia is able to get back out at Villa Park off the back of this spell out.

It’s hoped that we’ll see that before this season is over, but ultimately the medical staff will make a sensible decision on when he’s ready to come back, and Buendia will hopefully be able to reach the same levels of performance he produced prior to the setback, and perhaps kick on from there too.
