Aston Villa’s busy end to the summer transfer window looks set to continue as both Emiliano Martinez and Tammy Abraham could both move on ahead of the deadline.
There have been significant changes to Unai Emery’s squad already this summer, with major incomings and outgoings as we look to rebuild and start a new cycle after the success of last season.
While some will be concerned by the amount of change, it’s an exciting time to see what this new-look Villa can achieve and how our playing style evolves, but two more players could be on their way out in the coming days.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Martinez has given a move to Chelsea the green light and is now waiting to see if the two clubs can reach an agreement over a transfer, with our Premier League rivals still deciding internally over whether or not to make a move.
Speculation heavily linked the Argentine shot-stopper with an exit last summer, and although he stayed and played a key role in our Champions League qualification and Europa League triumph, Villa have seemingly moved to get ahead of the situation this time round and signed Zion Suzuki earlier this month as Martinez’s long-term successor.
Ideally, we’ll find a solution to move him on now as he’s too good to be a back-up option and clearing his wages and securing a decent transfer fee will be important, but it remains to be seen if it’s Chelsea who he joins.
Meanwhile, The Athletic report that Ipswich Town are working on a deal to sign Abraham on a season-long loan, and with Villa open to allowing him to leave, it could be a switch that materialises this week.
The 28-year-old only returned to the club in January after his memorable first spell with us as we secured promotion back to the Premier League, but it has been a modest return on our investment in him at the start of the year, which saw him score three goals in 16 appearances in the second half of last season, and it has resulted in Villa and Emery being open to a reshuffle.
With Ollie Watkins set to move on and join Al Hilal, coupled with the expected arrival of Nicolas Jackson to replace him and with speculation linking Villa with further targets as well as having Brian Madjo looking to make an impact, it does feel as though it’s the best outcome for all concerned if Abraham finds a new club this week.
