He was in impressive form again for their FA Cup tie with Man City last week, and while it appears as though his time at Swindon has helped with his development and improvement having benefitted from regular playing time, a decision will be needed on his future for the second half of the campaign.

As per the club’s official site, they have confirmed that the talented youngster has been recalled, having joined the Robins in August.

One of the options for Villa is of course to send Kesler-Hayden back out on loan, perhaps at a higher level to test him further and see where he’s at at this stage of his career.

In contrast, there is also the possibility that he now stays at Villa, competes and provides cover at right-back for Matty Cash, with Steven Gerrard then able to have a closer look at him to judge whether or not he’s ready to be involved at first-team level on a consistent basis moving forward.

Villa are in need of competition in that position, and so it’s hoped that rather than having to splash out in the transfer market, Kesler-Hayden could be a suitable solution in the long term as the decision to recall him is surely based on tracking his progress at Swindon and being left impressed.

Time will tell what Villa decide to do, but with the likes of Arjan Raikhy and Louie Barry also returning from their respective loan spells this month, it’s hoped that the club make the right decisions with regards to the development of our talented young players, many of whom were heavily involved in our FA Youth Cup success last season and appear to have big futures at the club ahead of them.
